Opsens solutions for transformer and energy T&D monitoring .Opsens' transformer hot spot monitoring solution is the most reliable fiber optic temperature system available today. Based on the field proven GaAs based SCBG measuring technique used in transformers since the 1990's, Opsens direct, accurate & real-time transformer hot spot measurement addresses the critical issues encountered by transformer manufacturers and electric utilities managers: robust sensor, ease of installation, long-term reliability and easy system integration in the Utility's infrastructure.
Opsens innovates in providing a fully configurable hot spot temperature monitoring solution. At Opsens we realize that electric Utilities and Transformer Manufacturers alike have their specific preferences when it comes to fiber optic probe installation. Benefits & Added Value The PowerSens II is now fitted with an internal reference that allows regular self verification and correction of system calibration. The internal reference guarantees long term accuracy in the most adverse conditions encountered in a transformer environment such as temperature variations, component aging, mechanical chocks and transformer vibrations. In combination with the OTG-T+ or OTG-T fiber optic sensors, the PowerSens II provides the Best Total System Accuracy in the winding hot spot monitoring industry at±0.8 °C (sensor & signal conditioner). Opsens has implemented a fully traceable new calibration method that assures long term traceability of both the PowerSens II and the OTG-T family of fiber optic sensors. Combined with the internal reference of the PowerSens II, this new calibration method provides unparalleled reliability to Opsens transformer temperature monitoring devices. System accuracy and reliability are then secured over lifetime. Opsens now provides a six-year warranty on all PowerSens II and PicoP signal conditioners supplied to the power transformer industry. Opsens offers robust, easy-to-install, easy to use fiber optic sensors that were developed specifically for winding temperature monitoring and that can be configured depending on user's specific needs. Benefits from Opsens fiber optic temperature sensors are many: our small, encapsulated probe and flexible fiber optic cable have great resistance to mishandling and winding compression, eliminating the need to 'double the count' of sensors. Our easy to install temperature sensors fitted with a Nomex™ spacer insert disk allow for fast, hassle-free installation in the windings with optimal probe position for the best hot-spot reading and ideal sensor protection, crucial during winding compression. Moreover, our innovative 2-step fiber optic sensor winding installation process prevents accidental damage occurring during winding construction and vapor phase: by installing short fiber optic sensors in the windings' hot spots and doing final connection using all-dielectric material, cable breakage is nearly inexistent. Customers using Opsens' unique installation technique obtain maximum sensor yield while saving valuable time and money. Whether you use the Classic fiber optic installation solution or the enhanced Zero Fault System, you will be able to rely on one of the best temperature monitoring system.

Opsens' EMC testing and Electrical current measurement for EED devicesThe RadSens-type signal conditioners and OTG-R-type fiber optic temperature sensors are unique products specifically designed for Radio and Radar Radiation Hazards (RADHAZ) applications, Hazard of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO) applications, and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing assessment of bridge-wire electro-explosive devices (EED).
A simple but robust spectrophotometric technique, it relies on the temperature dependence of the bandgap of GaAs semiconductor crystal. GaAs crystal is opaque for wavelengths below its bandgap and transparent for wavelengths above it. The transition region, i.e. the bandgap spectral position, is a function of the temperature. The RadSens solution was designed to provide high level of flexibility essential for HERO applications. Already adopted by major Army, Navy and Air force across the world, the RadSens offers many unique advantages and benefits:
Benefits & Added Value
- 1000 Hz sampling rate scalable from 100 Hz to 1K Hz

Downhole fiber optic pressure and temperature sensing solutionMulti-channel signal conditioner
dedicated for pressure & temperature measurements in harsh environnements
Opsens' all-sapphire OPP-W fiber optic pressure and temperature sensor operates in extremely harsh commonly found in the oil & gas industry. It delivers real-time, accurate data and allows continuous monitoring of both downhole pressure and temperature in hydrogen and steam rich environments. It has proven to be reliable at temperatures as high as 300 °C (572 °F)
Unconventional and Intelligent Well Systems.
Heavy Oil Wells
Opsens' sensing system is the ideal solution for heavy oil wells implementing Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) for oil recovery. The Sensors can be installed in both injecting and producing well. They can be also used in all thermal wells where heavy oil is liquefied by hot steam injection such as Steam Flood wells and Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) wells.
Opsens P/T Sensing system is well suited for permanent monitoring systems and/or intelligent well systems. Designs are also available for short-term well interventions. Benefits & Added Value
Real time accurate and continuous monitoring of the downhole pressure helps operators better understand the reservoir condition, allowing rapid detection methods to quickly & efficiently diagnose and correct potential problems before the affect production. Such optimization of the production process enhances the oil recovery rate and reduces the operating costs associated with steam injection and oil recovery. Opsens' sensing solution is offered in both single and multiple-point configurations allowing for a multitude of deployment configurations, including real-time monitoring of downhole pumps to profiling a producing well.
